It Starts With You

Years ago, when our kids were little, I remember crying out to God in desperation for our marriage.

Bobby was busy working and building his career and our future.

I was at home with our babes all day.

I was hungry for more intimacy, more connection, more love, more time with him.

I remember one night praying in the bath tub about my desires for more.

And I heard this….

“When you start treating him the way you treat me, you will get it.

I was shocked, and convicted.

I knew what it meant, but it wasn’t the answer I was expecting.

Show me your love by the way you show him.

Love me by loving him.

Honor me by honoring him.

Trust me by trusting him.

That is the greatest spirituality.” ✨

I was scared.

Yet I knew the voice I heard was God inside of me-which has never mislead me.

I also knew I could trust Bobby’s heart or else I wouldn’t be hearing this.

Which meant I was going to have to let go of a lot.

A lot of story.

A lot of judgement.

And a lot of expectation.

It humbled me, and began my journey of learning to really love.

And it changed everything.

Today I am overwhelmed daily by his love, affection, time, energy and attention.

We are now together 24-7 and he does more for me and our family than I have ever asked him for or dreamed of.

It starts with us my friends.

It always does.
